The Culture

In the Bartira Farms, about 30,000 ha are destined to the production of seven different crops, all of them highly demanded in the market:
Sugar Cane – In the Bartira Farms (states of Sao Paulo and Minas Gerais), 17,000 hectares of sugar cane are grown. One of the biggest grinding plants in the world is being assembled at the Mosquito Unit, with capacity to processing 9 million tons of sugar cane. Only in the company units, over 1 million tons of sugar cane will be picked to produce alcohol and sugar. The projects should allow for increasing profits and generating jobs, besides streamlining the company to the global tendency of seeking cleaner and renewable energy.
Rubber - Located at the Bartifa Unit (Rancharia, state of Sao Paulo), the 600 ha of land where rubber trees are cropped is among the three largest ones in the state of Sao Paulo. In 2010, when the project is expected to be completed, more than 50 direct jobs should be created.
Cassava– In a 500 ha area in Martinópolis (state of Sao Paulo), the average annual production is of 10,000 tons, to supply small industries in the West Region of the state.
Soybean, Corn e Cotton – Besides the areas where corn and soybean are cropped in the states of Minas Gerais and Sao Paulo, the company uses 8,500ha in the San Antonio unit (at the municipality of Tangará da Serra, state of Mato Grosso do Sul) to grow soybean and cotton. The use of cultivars with high productive potential in irrigated area also allows for outstanding results in the state of Minas Gerais.
Pineapple - The 450ha of the Pirapitinga Unit allotted to this project benefit the families of 128 farmers and members of the cooperative in the town of Canápolis (state of Minas Gerais). Among direct and indirect jobs, the activity employs over 700 individuals, mobilizing about 20% of the municipality's population.
The growing of pineapple and rubber is vested with strong social appeal, since it employs a significant number of individuals in Canápolis and Rancharia (state of Sao Paulo).
