The Company Calves Trading The Assets Agriculture Socio-Environmental projects    Equines

The Bartira Farms stand for the husbandry division of the Brascan Group and are ranked among the major producers of calves in Brazil. In the eleven operational units found in the Southeast and Center-West regions, Nelore calves are grown and crossbred with the Angus, Braunvieh, Brahman and Santa Gertrudis races.

The current livestock is of about 100 thousand heads of cattle. The animals are put in the market during the weaning period and are auctioned to cattle farmers specialized in post-weaning and fattening, and further slaughter. A sampling of such animals is forwarded to partner institutions, among which the Embrapa, University of Sao Paulo (USP) and State University of Sao Paulo (UNESP), where they are subjected to genetic assessments and cost/benefit analysis.

Besides the cattle farming, the Bartira Farms devote 30 thousand hectares to agricultural activities. This area comprises permanent crops like the rubber tree; semi-permanent crops like the sugar cane; and, annual crops like corn, soybean and cotton. The fruit growing at the Pirapitinga Unit, in the area known as Triângulo Mineiro , is also outstanding. There, a significant area is devoted to cropping pineapple, in a local partnership with strong social appeal.

The production of food and energy is part of the objectives of the company, in an effort to diversify its activities.
