Private Reserves of Natural Heritage - RPPN
Two strategic projects are developed here. The first one at the Mosquito unit, in Narandiba, that preserves the largest continuous reserve of Atlantic Jungle in the Pontal do Paranapanema, in a 1270ha area. In the Pirapitinga unit, in turn, one finds the largest area of native cerrado in the region - the Cerrado do Bugre - in a total area of 3000 ha.
The projects are developed in partnership with the Brazilian Confederation of Owners of Private Reserves of Natural Heritage, the Institute of Ecologic Research of the Western Sao Paulo University (IPE), FAPESP and the Federal University of Viçosa.
Monitoring of Tropical Tree Species
Located at the Mosquito unit, in Narandiba (state of Sao Paulo), the project is supported by the Western Sao Paulo University (Unoeste) and the Foundation of Support to Research of the State of Sao Paulo - FAPESP. After carefully researching the species, the project is now assessing which of them have the higher adaptability potential, and whose regeneration is easier in that region.
